Corpse Flower

Shortly after the election, the hype in the area turned from politics and to the butterfly garden at Milwaukee Public Museum. In 2002 a Titan Arum was planted, and it was expected to bloom any day. A Titan Arum is also known as the Corpse Flower for the rotting flesh smell given off when the plant blooms.

Saturday evening brought news of the plant collapsing and most had given up hope that it would bloom. However, it did today & you can see it here live. Thankfully, they don't have it hooked up to smell cam...LOL!! I don't know that the refresh is necessary anymore, but before it bloomed the plant grew at a rate of an inch an hour.

There is another Titan Arum in the butterfly garden that could bloom next year. See we aren't all about beer & the bronze Fonz...ROFL!!

Fun Weekend!

Saturday morning Olivia & I dropped Bob off at the airport. He headed off to Las Vegas with three of our friends for a guys weekend. I have heard from him a few times & they are having a GREAT time.

Olivia & I hit the mall for some shopping fun and then a local restaurant for lunch. We had a great time, but she was anxious to get home and head over to a friend's house for a bonfire and some girlie fun!

That evening Erin & I went to The Melting Pot (a fondue restaurant) for a girls night out. It was so much fun & man was it a lot of food! It was SO good! I thought fondue went out of style in the 70s. Who knew it was still around and so good...lol!! If you ever have a chance to go to The Melting Pot, jump at the chance. Just be sure you have a lot of time as it isn't a fast meal by any means.

A Day at the Track!

Those of you who know me and know that the NASCAR Busch Series & Craftsman Truck Series were in Milwaukee over the weekend might think I am going to tell you that's the track where I spent the Sunday! It's not! Bob & I spent the day at Arlington Park with some friends. It was a beautiful day & a GREAT time! Here's one of the horse we placed a very small wager on. This is after he ran.

If I remember correctly, this horse's name is Life's Lesson!

We didn't win! Don't bet on horses was our life lesson of the day...lol!

I discovered a really, really cute Vera Bradley print today while reading here!
