Getting "Whatcha" Want

The first step to getting the things you want out of life is this: Decide what you want. -- Ben Stein

Junior

Today is Olivia's school registration. I cannot believe she is a junior! Where on earth has that time gone?

Oops...

I spent Saturday sleeping off & on. This cough/chest tightness thing is really kicking my butt. It makes my whole body hurt. I missed blogging. Bob was on the computer all day with a work crisis. I missed another day. Back on track today...

So Uninspired...

I have no idea what to make for supper tonight. Meal planning is not my strength. I have come to realize that I don't mind the actual cooking. It's the planning and trying to pick something that everyone likes and/or is in the mood to eat. Blah...

Think I know what I will be working on during the next Thirty Days of Blank!

Wonderful Day

Today was a glorious weather day! Bob & I took advantage of it. We went to put a fresh flower arrangement on his grandmother & grandfather's grave. August 10 marks three years since his grandma passed away. I can't believe it has been that long already. We miss & love you, Sama. After visiting the cemetery we headed to the park & just hung out for hours. It was nice being together without the blare of a TV or radio! Lots of good people watching & GREAT company! :)

30 Days of...

I have seriously been neglecting my blogs of late! I missed the entire month of July. I did get a lot accomplished, but I seriously missed my blogging.

For the next 30 days, I am going to challenge myself to blog every single day. I have Ms. Carolynn to hold me accountable and now the rest of you too!

You can join too! What would you like to start and/or change?

Last Day

Today is the last day we have to walk in the front door to head upstairs & in the garage door to be on the main floor. Thank goodness!!

No Wheels

We have car in for some brake work, and I am without wheels until tomorrow! I don't like being "stuck" at home without my car. I had no plans to go anywhere, but knowing you can't go anywhere that isn't within walking distance kind of makes you want to go somewhere. LOL!!

Oh, Grandmother!

Telling my grandma about Boomer having to be neutered was pretty interesting! She kept saying "tutoring, I don't know what that is". Finally, she figured out the word, but then asks what is that? Good grief! After I explain what it is to her, she says oh so he won't be a boy or a girl! Sometimes I don't know about that woman. She's had a hysterectomy. Does that mean she isn't male or female? UGH!

Fingers Crossed

Now that all the vacations and working at parties is behind me I am hopeful that I will return to my regular blogging schedule!

Bad Blogger

I have neglected my blog over the last couple weeks. I am finally getting into the swing of my new schedule with the photography class. It is taking much more time and work than I anticipated, but I do LOVE it. Hopefully, now that I have a routine set my blog won't be neglected!

No Gala

There will be no pictures of Bob & I in our gala threads this year. We decided to skip it and spent the evening with a friend. We decided we would rather spend time with friends than making small talk with acquaintances. Bob spends so many hours at work with these people, and you know the talk would have turned to work. It was nice for him to have time away from that.

I am keeping the dress since it was a great deal, and I will be able to wear for other occasions since it isn't as dressy as previous dresses had been.

Ugh...

It took $654, but my car is ready for pick up. I have a full day planned for tomorrow that includes walking up to the shop to pick her up.

Since Bob is out of town I have been driving his truck. I like it a lot, but it's just not mine so I'm not as comfortable driving it. I'll be happy to be driving my little Blazer again!

Tomorrow's To Dos

pick up truck
take Olivia to bank
take Olivia to work
ship packages
drop off dry cleaning
buy slide film
meet friend for quick lunch
pick Olivia up from work
shoot at least three rolls of film of Olivia for semester project
go shopping with Olivia
go to dinner with Olivia
go to see TWILIGHT with Olivia

I need a nap after typing that...lol!!

My "Bottom Part"

Shelbi over at Keeper of the Chocolates wrote a lovely entry about the things we surrender as mothers. Things that are less than perfect, but in the grand scheme of things are worth surrendering.

There are several things that come to mind for me, but the main one is Olivia's room. Especially her closet & drawers. My closet & drawers are in perfect order most of the time. Each piece of clothing has its place.

I got tired of nagging her about straightening her clothes, and a few years ago I gave up that battle. However, there is a trade off -- she is now responsible for putting away her own clothes and ironing anything that was shoved in a drawer that is too wrinkled to wear. If I find something she has not worn & put in the hamper because it was too wrinkled, I keep it for at least a week. We are both much happier that this issue has been put to rest.

The inside of her drawers can look like this...

As long as when the drawers are closed the dresser looks like this...

That was one sweet surrender!!

Does Anyone Know...

where this week went?

The roof is COMPLETELY done...
DirecTV is operational again and includes another room in the house...

That means I am officially done getting things ready for someone to come do work at the house. Now I need to get this place put back together. Once the house is put back together I will not feel so "pressured" to get things done and will have a more scaled back weekly schedule. It will be a nice change from the last few.

Break Time

I took an unintentional break from blogging this week. This week just kicked me in the backside. Today is the only day I have been able to stay home and the only reason I am here is because I came down with a late summer cold or something Tuesday.

I have missed you all and hope to be back on schedule next week.

Whoa!

Where has all the time gone? I can't believe it is May already! I can't believe this week is over and this is the first time this week I am posting! I wish I could come to tell you I hadn't posted because I was away on some glamorous trip, but that isn't the case. It has just been a busy week of doing some spring cleaning, errands, and appointments.

Getting Back to Normal

Today was my last days of parties, and I am glad they are over. I am not used to having to be out of the house at a certain time every morning or having to take care of the house, family, bills, etc. while working. I know if it was a regular part of my life I would adapt, but I am extremely thankful to be able to be a SAHM and set my own schedule.

Workin' Once Again

It's time once again for my annual two week stint back at McDonald's. Today were the first two of twelve parties. In past years, I only did one party per day, but have added a second party on a few of them this year.

I'll say it again: I have no desire to go back on a regular basis, but it is fun to get out and help for a couple weeks each year.
