Oh No! Not Another Shopping Story

I am sure you all are getting sick of my shopping stories, but I wanted to note this milestone. :) I didn't save big percentage wise this week. Only about 27%, but I was able to skip ALL my Grocery Game Li$ts. We are so well stocked that we didn't need anything on those lists. Can you believe I only spent $27.61 on groceries this week? All we needed was produce, milk, cottage cheese, and eggs. Those things you can't really stock up on when the prices are at their lowest. Prior to the Grocery Game I spent about $150/week and had nothing in the house. Our cupboards are overflowing with options now!

There are two things we are getting low on and would love to have show up on the li$t next week -- toilet paper and paper towels. There is enough to last another week, but I don't like being this low and think about paying (gasp) full price...lol!

Wow, I would love to get in on that grocery game. Isn't it great to find a bargain? Watch out on that toilet paper! LOL

I did the trial. I gathered all my local grocery sale papers and coupons. Since WalMart is not on the Grocery Game List, I did my own list from the sale papers. WalMart will price match, so I had all of my numbers ready. (They even have shelf signs that "prove" they are lower than the competition)

BUT...ALL but one item was already cheaper at WalMart than the local sale prices. Other than buy one get one free items at Food Lion, I'm convinced that WalMart is the place to shop, and just take the coupons there.

I do not have the bargains that you have though, Pen! I think our area is just to small for it to work here. :(

We don't have a Super WalMart close enough that it makes sense to go to regularly. The food selection is VERY limited so they don't carry many of the things we use. For example, they only have white or "wheat" (where the first ingredient is enriched wheat flour) bread. I have only found one item that we do purchase lower at Wal-Mart than the best price I have gotten at my list store. That was the pudding Olivia likes for her lunch and it was only one cent less. That wouldn't make it worth the trip...lol. However, now I know if I am low and it's not on sale elsewhere to pick it up there.

I see my best savings at Walgreen's and CVS. A couple weeks ago I got a 36 pk of Hefty garbage bags, and two Glade air freshners for $1.47. Couldn't do that at our Wal-Mart! :)

Our Target is actually lower on most things than the Wal-Mart. If I need something that is not on one of my lists, that is one of my first stops.

Wish the list worked for you. It makes shopping SO easy! :) I think you are right. It won't necessarily work for every area.
