Red is one of my favorite colors, and lately I have really been drawn to it. So with Valentine's Day coming soon I thought I would use the color red as the topic for this week's thirteen.
1. Red is a strong color that conjures up a range of conflicting emotions from love to violence.
2. Red can increase the rate of respiration and raise blood pressure.
3. Red is power -- think of "the power tie" worn by business people and VIPs.
4. Red is the color of happiness and prosperity in China and may be used to attract good luck.
5. Red is the color of mourning in South Africa.
6. Red Ruby is the traditional 40th wedding anniversary gift.
7. Red letter day - a day of special significance.
8. Red carpet treatment - make someone feel special.
9. Paint the town red - celebrate, go out partying.
10. Red sky in the morning, sailor's warning; red sky at night, sailor's delight - good and bad warning signs when at sea.
11. Seeing red - to be angry.
12. Red herring - something that deceives or distracts attention from the truth.
13. In the red - losing money or overdrawn in a back account.

ReplyDeleteI don't know yet about my week getting better, that list was from last Friday all the way to the diaper incident this morning, lol. I'm hoping for a better next week. Maybe I will be able to post 13 awsome things that happened next week.
That was an interesting list. I never thought of writing about 13 fact of a colour, but that's a really nice idea!

Great list! My favorite color too! Once a few years ago I was feeling down (blue) and I decided that I was going to redecorate my bedroom with red bedding to give me more warmth and energy. It worked! It really cheered me up. So now I have a red and white kitchen, red couches and red drapes in the bedroom.

Red is often the color associated with passion too. Just look in a lingerie shop window. Great idea for a TT.

I love red, too - since I met Frank. Maybe it sounds weird, but it´s his favorite color - when we threw our households together there were a ton of red things. I like them eb´ven more than my (former) blue ones I´ve given away =)
